Treasury on Etsy

One thing about Etsy is that you can eat chocolate online without gaining any weight!

Ok, seriously...  yesterday, two of my little baby hats were featured in two Etsy Treasury's (below) and I decided to create my first Treasury... all by myself.  hehehe

It's not hard, just time consuming.  And the best part is, you are giving someone else that nice feeling that I recieved.  It's encouraging and it just makes someone smile.

Now if you get to know me, you will find out that I believe Chocolate really IS a food group!

Enjoy!

Kentucky Living

Welcome to my Front Porch here in Central Kentucky!

This is where I usually have my coffee everyday.  The braided rugs were done by my Mom.

This is my Ornamental Potato Plant.  I'm tellin you, this thing demands attention AND it pouts!  If I don't water it, every day, every single day... it wilts and then the next day some leaves will die off...  I've named it Brat!  Ok, when it was a baby, it only cost $2.50 so I guess I'll put up with it's attitude.  :)

Have you ever done this?  Snipped off your WAY too long petunia's and just stuck them in water?
I did that this year and these guys literally grow in the water... I guess I could have shoved them in dirt after they rooted, but ehhhh no.  The only fall back to this is that they are a little dwarfed now, but they produce blooms all the time.

This picture says a thousand words... or just one word.  LAZY!

My pink begonia's seem to like this cooler weather at night.  Then again, they are under the overhang of the porch.  But they are exploding lately.  I'll buy more of these next year for sure.

THIS guy.  We have a major problem in our relationship.  I knock his humungous-ginormous web down every single day, and he thinks he's so clever and re webs his home every night.  If I weren't so scared of him, I'd kill him when he's out late at night or early in the morning... but he hides from me in the day... probably laughing at me.  Gotta love the country sometimes... ugh!

This is the first time I've been able to grow any kind of Ivy.  I took the advice from my Sister... she said to ignore it and it'll grow.  Ok.  I've ignored real good... even ignored windexing the table!  And there she is... growing like a weed.  hehehe

View from the East... huge yard.  Wanna come mow?  Or prune?  I'll make coffee!

This is the back of the house.  That little bird bath can hold a dozen birds... and yes, they all get in it and bath around mid day, every day.  I'll try and get a shot of their community bath house someday...

I hope you've enjoyed the little tour of my Country View.  In about another month, this place is going to be booming with Fall Colors!

I really need to get rid of the pink flowers and get some fall mums and punkins and gourds.

Blackbirds in Kentucky

On a rainy Labor Day weekend Sunday...  these photo's aren't the best but these Blackbirds are something else.

For a couple weeks they've been landing in our tree's and land.  There's thousands of them.

I've been reading articles on how popular these little guys are.

Some people call this the Blackbird Winter
Now the scare is they are spreading the West Nile Virus.

All I know is they've been invading this Central Kentucky area for a couple weeks.  The noise is amazing...  when they begin to arrive of a day, the clucking and clacking starts out slow and not so loud, then it's like someone turns the volume up and you can't hear yourself talking to the person next to you if you're outside.   Then all of a sudden, a loud WHOOSH happens when they all take off.

Imagine this right after you wash your car.  Or worse!  On your very light colored house.  sigh.

And Riley, the so called watch dog?  Well take a look below at what she does the best.... it's NOT bowling for blackbirds.

By the way, yes, I made this white, chevron crochet blanket for her.
It's not spoiling, she was just cold!

Knitted Baby Hats!

I've begun stocking Baby Hats in my Etsy shop.

So I went on Vacation and stopped by to see one of my Sister's.  Her Daughter wanted to learn how to knit....  and I re-caught the knitting bug!
I really truly honestly DID try not to pick up her needles and play around.  (you don't believe me do you) WELL I DID TRY!

Some crafts are so addicting aren't they?

Knitting is a world in itself.  Everything from start to finish becomes "important".  The size needles for the yarn.  The right yarn for that particular item.  The cast on, cast off methods.  That special stitch to give it that quality needed. Seaming.  OH the seaming!  There's nothing worse than knitting something for hours and there is that seam.  Oh no, you can't just do a hack job.  There are a gazillion methods to seaming, and each item needs the correct finishing method.

When I first started knitted a couple years ago....  If I couldn't seam it correctly?  Rip the whole thing out and start something new.  ugh!

These little beauties are just a couple of the Knitted Baby Hats in my Etsy shop.

Please stop by and take a peek!
